You can create as many partial monthly payments as you want. The payment amount Undebt.it suggests is a plan, not a rule. Log what you actually paid and the site works from there.
Logging a partial payment
- Open the Dashboard (or the Debt Details page for the account).
- In the payment manager, the planned amount is filled in for you. Change it to the amount you actually paid.
- Save the payment.
The account balance drops by the amount you entered, and the payment shows in the account's transaction history like any other payment. The dashboard then shows how much is still outstanding for that billing month, so you can see at a glance that the account is not done yet.
Paying the rest later in the month
You can add as many payments as you like against the same billing month. When you make the second payment, log it the same way and choose the same billing month; Undebt.it adds it to the first one, and once the total reaches the planned amount the account is marked complete for the month.
If you can't pay the rest
Nothing breaks. Undebt.it recomputes the plan from your real balance, so the shortfall is not lost or hidden; it simply stays on the balance and the payoff schedule shifts to reflect it. If you already know a whole month is going to be short, the cleanest way to deal with this is to just adjust the due date to next month. That marks the account done for the current month.
One thing to keep in mind: a partial payment on a credit card usually still needs to meet the card's minimum due to avoid a late fee. Undebt.it tracks your plan; your lender tracks their minimum.
Where partial payments show up
- The Dashboard payment manager shows the amount remaining for the month.
- The Snowball Table highlights the current month with how much has been paid on each debt and how much is left.
- The Debt Details transaction history lists each payment separately, so two payments in one month appear as two rows.
